The Difference It Makes

Why Experience Matters

Real service is built over years, not announced overnight.

Real service means…

Sitting through every long meeting, even the boring ones.

Reading the budget line by line.

Showing up for the same neighbors year after year.

Casting hard votes and owning the outcome.

Building coalitions across schools, charities, and faith communities.

Mentoring students and supporting families through real struggles.

Proven leadership requires…

The patience to govern, not just to speak.

The discipline to understand where every dollar goes.

The trust that's only earned over time.

The courage to be accountable, not just visible.

The relationships that turn ideas into results.

The empathy that comes from doing the work, not watching it.

Arlington deserves a leader who has already done the work this office requires.

Melody has.

About Melody

Melody Fowler Announces Campaign for Arlington City Council

Longtime Arlington resident, educator, and current Arlington ISD Board of Trustees member Melody Fowler today announced she will run for the Arlington City Council seat in District 8, the position currently held by Council Member Barbara Odom-Wesley, who has announced her retirement at the end of her term.

A 38-year educator, Fowler currently serves as Director of Student Support, Programs, and Services and Professor at Arlington Baptist University. She has represented Arlington ISD Place 2 on the school board for eight years, including serving as board president and secretary. In 2025, she completed the additional year-long training required to be named a Master Trustee by the Texas Association of School Boards (Class of 2025).

On the AISD Board, Melody has served on the Audit, Finance, Academic, Community Relations, and Governmental Committees. As board president, she helped craft the district's budget and led the Board through challenging times for schools.

Melody serves on the boards of Arlington Charities, the AISD Education Foundation, and as Vice-Chair of the Mayor's Education Coalition. She is a past board member of Arlington Life Shelter, Open Arms Clinic, and MPAC Arlington. She has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Arlington for eight years and is a member of First Baptist Church Arlington.

"I am running for City Council to keep the city economically strong and efficient with taxpayers' dollars. I will focus my efforts on keeping Arlington's crime rate low, creating excellent jobs, and attracting new businesses, so that Arlington residents can pay lower property taxes."

— Melody Fowler

Melody has called Arlington home for 25 years. She and her husband, Larry, have been married for 30 years and are the proud parents of their son, Brennan, age 26.
